A Letter from the President

Dear OASFAA Members & Friends,

As we settle into another academic year, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible work happening across our state. The start of a new year always brings a mix of excitement, anticipation, and a very long to-do list—and this year, that list seems to have grown even longer. I know many of you are working through new federal guidance, adapting your software and systems to support those changes, and navigating the many other challenges that have made an already demanding season even more challenging. Please know that your efforts are seen and appreciated.

These challenges are not simply technical or operational. They affect our students, our colleagues, and our ability to provide the timely, accurate, and compassionate support that students depend on. Yet, time and again, financial aid professionals across Oregon continue to show up, adapt, share information, and find ways to move forward. That commitment is what makes our profession so meaningful—and what makes OASFAA such an important community.

I encourage you to give yourself and your teams a little grace as we navigate this academic year together. Lean on one another, ask questions, share what you are learning, and remember that you do not have to have every answer on your own. OASFAA is here to support you, and I hope we can continue to strengthen the connections and collaboration that help all of us through the difficult seasons.

As we look ahead, I also want to remind everyone to mark your calendars for OASFAA’s upcoming training opportunities. Our FA 101/201 training will be held November 5th at LBCC and November 6th at PCC, followed by our Annual Conference, January 27th–29th. These events are a great opportunity to learn, connect with colleagues, and continue building the knowledge and skills that support our students. We hope to see you there!

I am proud to serve alongside you and grateful for the opportunity to represent such a committed group of professionals.
