Position Description:
Reed College seeks a dynamic and dedicated Associate Director of Financial Aid. The Associate Director will join Reed’s team of five financial aid professionals who are dedicated to making a Reed education affordable and accessible to all, regardless of financial circumstances. This role will share leadership of the financial aid function and will be primarily responsible for the oversight of processes and technology utilized by financial aid staff to ensure compliance and efficiency. This role reports to the Executive Director of Financial Aid. This is not a remote position.

Starting salary for this position is $72,000-$81,000. Pay offers are contingent upon experience and are determined through an internal pay assessment. This is an exempt position in grade 7.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist the Director in the overall management of the office including systems, processes, and policies. Serve as leadership in the Director’s absence.
  • Manage department staff, which may include Financial Aid Counselors and Assistant Director.
  • Counsel students and parents regarding financing a Reed education, financial aid eligibility, application procedures, available financial aid programs, costs, and financial management strategies.
  • Provide expert knowledge within CRM including reporting analysis and automation.
  • Monitor and communicate regulatory changes and administrative requirements for Title IV federal student aid programs.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state laws, regulation and college financial aid.
  • Awards funds from the various aid programs to students in accordance established by federal, state, and college guidelines.
  • Revise financial aid awards based on federal and institutional policy.
  • Manage the packaging of restricted funds as well as the reconciliation and maintenance of new or changing funds.
  • Develop and supervise maintenance of policies and procedures required to maintain integrity and compliance of financial aid functions.
  • Assist the Executive Director in the development of department wide training to ensure staff compliance, regulatory awareness, operational effectiveness and on time reporting.
  • May serve as a supervisor for financial aid staff.
  • Prepare documents and reports necessary for Title IV audits and program reviews.
  • Manage internal quality systems.
  • Ensure the integrity of and resolve discrepancies of federal databases, including timely submission of reports and corrections.
  • Provide financial aid presentation to prospective students.
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in lieu.
  • 6 years of progressively responsible experience administering financial aid in a higher education setting.
